שיעורים בספר הכוזרי כרך ב׳

מקום של כבוד קנה לו ספר הכוזרי בין ספרי היסוד של אמונת ישראל והגותו. מחברו, רבינו יהודה הלוי, קרא לספרו "ההוכחה והראיה להגנת הדת הבזויה", ומאוחר יותר נקרא בפי ההמון "ספר הכוזרי". הספר נכתב במקורו בערבית, ובמרוצת הדורות תורגם מספר פעמים לעברית.

ספר הכוזרי נכתב בתקופה בה מספר יסודות לאומיים–יהודיים החלו להישכח. ביטול מוסדות הגאונות, הנשיאות וראשות הגולה, גרמו לריה"ל להבין את הנקודה הקריטית שהיהדות מצויה בה כעת, נקודה בה לראשונה חדלה היהדות מלתפקד כאומה, ולמעשה כל החיים היהודיים שתולים על-גבי תרבות זרה, כך שהיהדות מתפקדת כדת בלבד. בעקבות כך החליט ריה"ל לכתוב את ספר הכוזרי על-מנת להבהיר לכל את היסוד הלאומי של היהדות, מעבר ליסוד הדתי.
